134-yr-old snowfall record broken in New York

The most snow for the date since Chester A Arthur was president.

Total snowfall added up to 20 inches in parts of Western New York and the entire area saw more than a foot (more than 30 cm) of total snowfall.

The city of Canandaigua broke its daily snowfall record for Jan. 19 with 7.8 inches of accumulation, beating the previous record of 6.3 inches set in 1884.
