Fresh eruption at Fuego volcano

Guatemala’s Fuego volcano belched black ash high into the sky on Sunday 3 January, as an eruption that began seven days before intensified.

Guatemala’s volcanic monitor, Insivumeh, said in a statement that thick columns of ash reached nearly 7,300m amid loud explosions and extended new lava flows.
