We Just Had Two Years Of Record-Breaking Global Cooling

Inconvenient Science: NASA data show that global temperatures dropped sharply over the past two years. Does that make NASA a global warming denier?

Writing in Real Clear Markets, Aaron Brown looked at the official NASA global temperature data and noticed something surprising. From February 2016 to February 2018, “global average temperatures dropped by 0.56 degrees Celsius.” That, he notes, is the biggest two-year drop in the past century.

Not surprisingly, this startling revelation did not warrant any coverage from the mainstream media.

However, they did report on such things as how tourists impact climate change, how global warming will generate more hurricanes, threaten fish habitats and make islands uninhabitable. They also quoted a UN official as saying that “our window of time for addressing climate change is closing very quickly.”

  1. I will say it again the global warming era is over. All this talk about what global warming may or may not do is a waste of time .

Another waste of time has been the topics which discuss why AGW theory may or may not be correct.

This I could see being discussed when AGW theory just came out but at this point in time I see further discussions on this topic as a big waste of time. It has been exhausted.

Where the focus should be is with solar/climate relationships which will be gaining in popularity as the warming ends.

What governs the climate are the amounts of energy coming into the climate system and leaving the climate system along with very slight changes in albedo and overall sea surface temperatures.

Co2 may inhibit long wave radiation from escaping into space but CO2 concentrations are a result of the climate not the cause and as levels of C02 increase the effects are much less. To add to this is there is no positive feedback between increasing amounts of CO2 and water vapor.

My forecast has been and is that this year is a transitional year to cooler temperatures as we march forward.

Less overall solar radiation and weak solar /geo magnetic field should result in a reduction of overall global temperatures by increasing global snow cloud coverage(galactic cosmic rays, more meridional atmospheric circulation( decreasing EUV light)), and increasing major explosive volcanic eruptions(galactic cosmic rays) , while overall sea surface temperatures lower, (less solar radiation).

The geo magnetic not only weakening but changing orientation (magnetic poles moving equatorward) will serve to compound given low solar radiation/low solar magnetic effects in my opinion.

This is my two cents on the subject of climate change we should find out much very soon, as long as solar conditions remain as is for the next few years which is very likely.

    • Agreed Salvatore,
One feature of the of the solar atmosphere, the Coronial Hole and its impact on the Earth’s Atmosphere is becoming more noticeable as the current cycle approaches solar minimum, is the length and number of Sudden Atmospheric Warming (SAW) events.
These events are noticed and documented in written weather history, since the 10th century and the start of the disturbed solar period with the Oort GSM.
Empirical evidence can be a double edged sword for the AGW Ologists, they are keen to highlight the warming aspects of the solar energy cycle, but blame the results of its warming on Human’s limited impacts on the environment though his 150,000 years of hunter gathering, later farming, and much later his advance into technology over the last 150 years and the use of energy to produce the Energy Civilisation we see and experience today.
Empirical evidence of SAW events, of both hot and cold are littered though out recorded European history. Both types of those calendar evidence entry’s record more events during GSM periods, than the more normal one to three events between cycles, they are less likely to occur during the solar minimum between cycles during High output periods such as SC17,18 and 19 and SC21, 22 and 23.
Harsh winter weather in the UK is directly linked to European SAW events and the easterly air stream flow they produce.
SC20 experienced a Western European cold event during 62/63 and a warm event during 76, SC24 experience a cold event during 2009/2010 other cold events have not affected western Europe but may well have affected North America and Central Europe/West Asia.
Yet during the period between Spoorer and Maunder a ten year period took place with multiple spring and summer Saw events causing hot dry Western Europe summers brought drought and famine with it.
Reversing the normal European airstream flow from a wet south westerly to a warm to hot dry easterly is a very powerful climatic solar energy control knob and a salutary warming to the Geo-engineers, be careful of hitting the so called AGW red stop button once pressed, there is no reset button and you may end the human race after pressing it.

  2. I searched the NASA web site and could not find any drop in temperatures in their graphs. Would someone pass along the graph of this drop in temps and post it so I can continue the argument with a friend. All I found in this story was NASA changed the temps.
