HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOWS TO CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY…

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHEYENNE WY… DEC 21 2014

…SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW LIKELY TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT TRAVEL ALONG THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR BETWEEN RAWLINS AND LARAMIE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT…

VERY MOIST PACIFIC AIR COMBINED WITH STRONG WEST WINDS HAVE SET THE STAGE FOR HEAVY SNOW FOR THE SNOWY AND SIERRA MADRE MOUNTAIN RANGES. STRONG UPSLOPE FLOW AND AN APPROACHING STORM SYSTEM WILL ALLOW SNOWFALL RATES TO INCREASE TODAY. ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 3 FEET ARE EXPECTED THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING IN THE MOUNTAINS.

STRONG WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH SNOW TO PRODUCE VERY LOW VISIBILITIES. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY TRUE IN AND AROUND ARLINGTON…ALONG INTERSTATE 80 BETWEEN LARAMIE AND RAWLINS. TRAVEL WILL BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

SIERRA MADRE RANGE-SNOWY RANGE-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF…CENTENNIAL…ALBANY…WOODS LANDING
