Antarctic has been COOLING for the last six years

Meanwhile, our leaders continue their misguided fight against “global warming.”

An intensive scientific study of both Earth’s poles has found that from 2009 to 2016 overall temperature has dropped in the southern polar region.

“Field data suggests that there’s been a modest cooling in the area over the 2009–2015 time period,” said Christopher Shuman, a University of Maryland, Baltimore County glaciologist working at Goddard.

This discovery, coupled the fact that the overall amount of ice has increased at the Antarctic and the amount of sea ice has also extended, might lead to the sneaking suspicion that humans are not having the huge impact on global temperature as the tax-and-spend people so often claim.

  1. To put climate alarm over melting ice sheets into perspective :-

“The average annual temperature ranges from about −10°C on the Antarctic coast to −60°C at the highest parts of the interior. Near the coast the temperature can exceed +10°C at times in summer and fall to below −40°C in winter. Over the elevated inland, it can rise to about −30°C in summer but fall below −80°C in winter. The lowest temperature yet recorded on the Earth’s surface was −89.2°C at Vostok station on 21 July 1983.”

    • Meant to add that for significant periods of the year there is very little insolation.

Extended periods without significant energy input from the Sun explain why it is so cold here yet “Climate Scientists” totally disregard this when they spruik their “mean global energy budget” nonsense.

Funny that the time period of low to zero energy input from the Sun seems to correlate with the coldest place on Earth AND with the fact that the Moon’s fortnight long night explains why it is so cold there.

As I said “Climate Scientists” and Luke Warmers totally disregard this fact in favour of their puerile blackbody hypothesis.

      • I thought it broke the all time coldest last year Rosco
minus 90c? or thereabout I seem to remember?
damn. now I need to go try n find it.

Scientists recently recorded the lowest temperatures on Earth at a desolate and remote ice plateau in East Antarctica, trumping a record set in 1983 and uncovering a new puzzle about the ice-covered continent.

Ted Scambos, lead scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), and his team found temperatures from −92 to −94 degrees Celsius (−134 to −137 degrees Fahrenheit) in a 1,000-kilometer long swath on the highest section of the East Antarctic ice divide.

  3. More interesting is that since 1978 the RSS temperature is almost flat, a slight minus, -0.02 oC/decade. However CO2 increased over that period of time by 60 ppm(v) and the water vapor pressure is negligible , so you would expect to see the fingerprint of CO2 but that’s not the case, conclusion incremental CO2 has hardly any effect on temperature.
