BLIZZARD WARNING FOR MUCH OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON

A BLIZZARD HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS PARTS OF WESTERN NORTH DAKOTA FROM CROSBY TO WILLISTON AND DICKINSON THIS AFTERNOON.

BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA FROM MINOT TO BISMARCK…FORT YATES AND LINTON LATE THIS AFTERNOON…AND FROM THE TURTLE MOUNTAINS THROUGH HARVEY AND JAMESTOWN LATE
TONIGHT. NORTHWEST WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH WILL COMBINE WITH FALLING SNOW…AND SNOW ALREADY ON THE GROUND …TO CAUSE ZERO VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW. SOME ROADS MAY BECOME BLOCKED DUE TO BLOWING SNOW. CONDITIONS WILL NOT IMPROVE UNTIL TUESDAY EVENING.

HEAVY SNOW…BETWEEN 10 AND 13 INCHES…WILL ALSO ACCUMULATE OVER PARTS OF NORTH CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA INTO THE JAMES RIVER VALLEY.

THIS INCLUDES THE CARRINGTON…HARVEY…RUGBY…TOWNER…BOTTINEAU AND ROLLA AREAS. BETWEEN 5 AND 9 INCHES OF SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE OVER PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST INTO SOUTH CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA.

LESSER AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL FALL IN SOUTHWEST NORTH DAKOTA FROM BEACH THROUGH DICKINSON AND HETTINGER.

TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS…IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE… ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL…CARRY A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT IN YOUR VEHICLE AND CHECK THE LATEST WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS BEFORE HEADING OUT.

  1. First time I drove through North Dakota I was surprised. They actually close the highways. Not just say don’t go out on them,they have gates that they close and lock barring entrance to the on ramps.
    They’re serious about their weather.
