STRONG WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT COLORADO TONIGHT THROUGH WEDS MORNING. BY LATE TONIGHT…THE STORM SYSTEM WILL BE MOVING INTO EASTERN COLORADO AND UNDERGO RAPID INTENSIFICATION.

RAIN SHOWERS ON THE PLAINS THIS EVENING WILL CHANGE TO SNOW OVERNIGHT. NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL ALSO INCREASE THROUGH THE NIGHT…BECOMING STRONG ENOUGH TO CA– USE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDS MORNING. VISIBILITIES ON THE PLAINS WILL BE NEAR ZERO AT TIMES DUE TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

DRIVING CONDITIONS ON THE PLAINS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDS MORNING WITH ROAD CLOSURES POSSIBLE DUE TO VERY POOR VISIBILITIES.

* TIMING…MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE OVERNIGHT BEFORE DECREASING LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…8 TO 16 INCHES WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS OVER THE GORE RANGE.

* WIND/VISIBILITY…WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH. EXPOSED AREAS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO SNOW AND STRONG WINDS… WITH VISIBILITIES REDUCED TO LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

  1. This storm is passing the Chicago area this evening. A classic hook shape we are currently in a lull between arcing storm fronts. No blizzard forecasted here, but maybe a trace of snow Thurs. or Fri. with high winds and low 40’s F expected. Upper 50’s F by Sat.
