…Blizzard Conditions and Heavy Snow Expected Late Sunday Night Through Tuesday…Corson-Walworth-Dewey-Potter-Stanley-Sully-Hughes-Hyde-Hand-Jones-Lyman-Buffalo—-Including the cities of McIntosh, Mobridge, Isabel, Gettysburg, Mission Ridge, Onida, Pierre, Highmore, Miller, Murdo, Kennebec, and Fort Thompson

* WHAT… Blizzard warning. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 11 inches, with localized amounts up to 15 inches, are expected.

* WHERE…Portions of central and north central South Dakota.

* WHEN…From 3 AM CST /2 AM MST/ Monday to 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel will be very dangerous to impossible, including during the morning commute on Monday. Damage to power lines is likely.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get

* WHAT…Blizzard conditions expected. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Total snow accumulations of 2 inches in Bowman to 8 to 10 inches in Grant and Sioux counties, with localized amounts up to 12 inches in Grant and Sioux counties, are expected.

A strong area of low pressure will track into eastern South Dakota tonight and Monday. The heaviest snow will fall across central South Dakota. Upslope enhanced snow is expected over the northern Black Hills.

Very strong winds will occur on the plains of western South Dakota Sunday night and Monday, with gusts of 55 to 65 mph likely. The combination of snow and strong winds will produce blizzard conditions.
