  1. The rain has been pretty much nonstop for us in Texas this week.
In the DFW area WhiteRock Lake has been overflowing at the spillway. I’ve seen a number of trees that have fallen over due to saturated soil. As I write at 9:50 a.m.CST more rain is moving north from the Central Texas area. Most of us are expecting a snowy and cold winter not unlike 2009. With an El Niño in place, we will see a wet condition until it abates.
After 115* temps. in July, we have rapidly descended into cooler temperatures and rain beginning in August. The shift has not gone unnoticed by all.
Some are asking if this is the new normal.

  2. My old stomping grounds. I remember them building that bridge ( around1965), saved a lot of time from my old house. I guess they will go back to a ferry.

  3. Winter in several SNG countries came earlier than the usual
    -(Probably Kazakhstan Region)

Thus, Kazakhstan was dominated by the Arctic cyclone . For several days, the republic is falling asleep with snow. And fog and ice create problems for drivers, – informs News agencies.
The consequences of snowfall on the streets of Astana eliminate hundreds of utility workers and almost 40 pieces of equipment. A blizzard has been raging in the Kazakh capital since Monday. And it subsides, according to weather forecasters, only at the end of the week. The air temperature in the country is now 3-5 degrees below normal. There is not much snow left in the cities of Kazakhstan on October 17 in the morning, 1-5 cm.
The first snow fell on the eve and in most parts of Kyrgyzstan. The streets of Bishkek and still green trees were covered with snow. Earlier it was reported that the first snow left the Khabarovsk region without light. At the time were de-energized and socially significant objects. The day before, on October 16, about 20 cm of snow fell in the mountains of the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. And in the mountains of Khamar-Daban (this is the southern Pribaikalye on the territory of the Irkutsk region and Buryatia) snow is already! “40 cm.”

  4. You have to understand something about a good part of Texas. It seldom rains in any large amount, consequently many areas do not have storm drains or any other flood prevention. I live ENE of that area and we had much the same amount of rain…consequently we had road closures because drainage ditches, streams and rivers have overflowed. Our politicians talk about prevention measures but as soon as it drys up, those measures are forgotter….I have lived in this area for over 25 years and have never seen rain such as we had this past week (and is forecast for next week alson)…

  5. Robert, you drove across that bridge when you were in Kingsland, Everyone in our neighborhood lost their docks and some their boats and jet skis as we did. Some houses were flooded. The cleanup will take months.
