  2. Of course you didn’t build that. Lobbyists and your corrupt administration did. You only signed off on it. Construction is a concept unknown to you. However, you are Aces at destruction.

  3. I saw an article in a magazine – not sure which one – that showed a solar panel site that covered 225 acres of land. The panels were motor driven so they always tracked the Sun, and the article claimed the array put out 25 MW of DC and converted it to 25 MW of AC. I find the capacity to be a bit difficult to swallow, but was amazed that they would claim 100% conversion of the form of power. Still, to make this whole thing useful, I wonder where they put the batteries so the claimed energy can be stored for use during night hours. As wide as the US is, there are many hours each day that there is NO solar input, and I doubt if the wind farms are going to be able to supply the night time energy needs.

    So why are we playing with toy sources instead of trying to make the real sources work better? It would seem to me that the “logical” thing that big government would do is to subsidize the construction of the needed conversions to existing power generators to make them fit the climate profile they are after, rather than subsidizing the chase after “renewable” energy that can not supply the needed energy. Besides, I wonder what the impact on the climate will be when 10s of thousands of acres of land are covered with wind generators, whiles 10s of thousands of more acres are plated over with “solar collectors?” All that land under those collectors never to feel the heat of the Sun again would seem to me to be a climate changer in its own right. And I would think that the wind would move to the path of least resistance, as it does now, so the anticipated power from the wind would not be realized as the slight pressure increase on the wind side of the blades might very well create enough resistance to channel the wind around, over, or under the whirling blades. I almost forgot. There is more money to be made in exotic energy sources than in traditional energy sources. People don’t matter, only wealth matters.

    • Lets see… we could put big lenses above the solar collectors(solar farms), big funnels on the windward side of the blades to direct the wind(and whatever else is up there) into the windfarms, then we’ll need to find a way to generate power from rainfall(rainfarms), snowfall(snowfarms), and the coup de gras!… harness the power of Glaciers with Glacier Farms!! There, I just created that!

  4. So, to sum it up, the best I can figure it out, in *rough* numbers:

    about $250M for 1GW Thorium reactor, which runs 24*7*365 for 60+ years. Can be located fairly close to the load. Maybe 10 acres per plant, or 100MW per acre. Looks like Thorium reactors scale down nicely, so think of the co-gen uses for northern communities who can use the waste heat in the winter!

    or about $1B for 100MW *NAME PLATE* solar or wind. Which run ay best 30% when the sun is out or wind is blowing (respectively of course). Often located 100’s of miles away from the load. Apple is using over 100 acres just to power their data center during the day, sunny days.
