California ski area headed for snowiest January on record

Also the snowiest month on record.

From Jan 1 to Jan 16,  some 144.5 inches (367 cm) of snow fell at the Mammoth Mountain ski area main lodge, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Ken Clark.

The resort is likely to achieve its snowiest January on record and snowiest month on record, Clark said.

The records are 182 inches (January) and 209 inches (any month).
