Chinese hailstorm kills 40

A brief but violent hailstorm and torrential rain swept through a mountainous region of northwest China killing 40 and sending 87 to the hospital.

Eighteen others remained missing after rain and hail battered Min county, Gansu province, for just 60 minutes on Thursday, wreaking “havoc” on all of the county’s 18 townships, blocking roads, destroying farmland and leaving collapsed houses in its wake.

  1. The headline is more than a bit misleading, Yahoo News at its best! It was flooding and sliding events that killed those unfortunate souls, not hail.
