  1. Thanks for posting this, Robert. But, I expect that the virtue signallers will ignore it, and keep wearing their masks.

  2. And we breathe 15 – 25 times a minute, minute after minute.
That’s a lot of exchange of air for every person who thinks they are protecting themselves and others.

Yielding to the government in exchange for personal common sense is a huge loss of liberty.

  3. Interesting test, especially as in the UK the claim is to protect others not you. In fact there is more chance of you being infected from your mask.

    • Seems to be a false claim. Wearing a mask has been transformed into a moral law, it’s the justification to punish someone; like other ‘rules’. Therefore it got support from the average person.

  4. But Dr Fauci says that there aren’t any aerosols, as the Corona virus only exists in the form of “droplets” which are easily stopped by any type of mask, and cannot propagate as far as six feet. Would he lie to us???

  5. Got to love the fact that when you watch the video, at the end, youtube puts up videos that tell the opposite story. I found it humorous, really. Almost as humorous as the first video that said mask work. No way of knowing if the person without the mask is blowing as hard as the person with the mask of course, but the bottom line is that IF the mask is trapping the virus, it is helping the wearer build his viral load until he gets really sick. Cool. Wonderful idea.

  6. An overview of the current evidence regarding the effectiveness of face masks.

    1. Studies on the effectiveness of face masks
So far, most studies found little to no evidence for the effectiveness of cloth face masks in the general population, neither as personal protective equipment nor as a source control.

A May 2020 meta-study on pandemic influenza published by the US CDC found that face masks had no effect, neither as personal protective equipment nor as a source control. (Source)
A July 2020 review by the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medince found that there is no evidence for the effectiveness of cloth masks against virus infection or transmission. (Source)
A Covid-19 cross-country study by the University of East Anglia found that a mask requirement was of no benefit and could even increase the risk of infection. (Source)
An April 2020 review by two US professors in respiratory and infectious disease from the University of Illinois concluded that face masks have no effect in everyday life, neither as self-protection nor to protect third parties (so-called source control). (Source)
An article in the New England Journal of Medicine from May 2020 came to the conclusion that cloth face masks offer little to no protection in everyday life. (Source)
An April 2020 Cochrane review (preprint) found that face masks in the general population or health care workers didn’t reduce influenza-like illness (ILI) cases. (Source)
An April 2020 review by the Norwich School of Medicine (preprint) found that “the evidence is not sufficiently strong to support widespread use of facemasks”, but supports the use of masks by “particularly vulnerable individuals when in transient higher risk situations.” (Source)
A July 2020 study by Japanese researchers found that cloth masks “offer zero protection against coronavirus” due to their large pore size and generally poor fit. (Source)
A 2015 study in the British Medical Journal BMJ Open found that cloth masks were penetrated by 97% of particles and may increase infection risk by retaining moisture or repeated use. (Source)

  7. It seems like a waste of time to get into a mask argument. I wish this web site would get back to dealing with the climate change arguments. We need good arguments to counter the media. They keep talking about increased temperatures, melting ice, and greater fires due to climate change, ect. We need better facts to counter the media machine. Sometimes it seems like a loosing battle, especially in California.

    • An awful lot of the same people who are pushing the fear of covid-19 are also pushing the fear of “global warming” even to the point of claiming the virus is caused by the global warming …. including politicians in particular.

I should think figuring out how to deal with the media on one of these issues would help figuring out how to deal with the media on the other issue. Helps us figure out how to build our personal resilience.
