Fauci – “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask”

Here’s a short video of Dr. Anthony Fauci saying just that.

In case this video somehow mysteriously disappears, here’s what Dr. Fauci says:

“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better, and it might even block a droplet, but its not providing the perfect protection that people ‘think’ that it is.

“And often, there are unintended consequences: People keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”

Thanks to Winston Smith for this video

  1. Oh but now he says he said that because the hospitals were short of mask and like a knight in shining armor (not) he was trying to ensure medical staff would have masks. Now isn’t that just so sentimental? This guy is a SNAKE! And btw I can’t help but notice that over the past week the MSM has made him a celebrity. Definitely this guy has a Napoleon Complex going on. Can someone tell me why he looks like and sounds like a tin pot dictator???

  2. Dr. Fauci is arguing in a non-scientifical way, which is quite normal, but still it is fined not doing that especially EU, thanks to the EU-commission, the unelected government of the EU, presenting wearing masks as an order; which is a consequence of a scientifical study to the effectivity of wearing masks. Even Hegel would say: as I wrote, all is an antinomy.

  3. Fauci flip-flops a LOT. Wait a week or two and he will say masks are required; and in another week or two he will say they do nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

But, he is right, in the quote above; but it goes against the approved narrative; so he well flip-flop because of that.

  4. true theyre NOT a miracle defence, touching etc sorta wrecks the whole idea. the MAIN reason they dissed masks before however
(it wasnt the fact they DO have some, not perfect, mitigation effects)
it was simply they had a limited supply so decided to nix general pop wanting them so the healthcare people who DO need them more had supplies
and we saw how soon they ran out anyway.
I wear specs so masks are real issue with fogging vision, but if I was going to the nearby large town thats now got 5 cases to go shopping
    Id wear a mask anyway.

  5. The answer to why are people wearing masks and why are government officials requiring them, is answered by your second article … a one-world marxist/totalitarian world!

  6. A less than a N95 mask creates air jets on the side and bottom of the mask. There are studies that prove that. Now that 200 scientists had to force WHO to add aerosol transmission to the method of spread it is an easy consideration that those “jets” spread virus laden aerosols. Studies show up to 30 feet. So much for the 6 foot rule from a 1930’s study. What is not known is: does the virus last long enough in an aerosol picked up by a return air duct to be redistributed throughout an enclosed envelope via the supply air duct?

  7. Yes, terence22, Here’s another flip-flop:
“Dr. Anthony Fauci recently said he opposed conducting studies to determine whether face masks are effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Is it because he already knows that the studies would put the lie to the whole mask-mandate regime?

During a July 14 conversation with students at Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service, Fauci was asked by a student if it was possible to conduct studies to learn whether masks are effective.

“What kind of studies can we do right now in the middle of the pandemic about masks and transmission of the disease?” the student asked. “Or are we just relying on anecdotal evidence because we are not able to do those kind of studies right now?”

“Right now,” replied Fauci, “I’m convinced enough in the summation and totality of the data that has been analyzed by meta-analysis that … the benefit of wearing a mask clearly is there and is better than not wearing a mask.”

Fauci went on to suggest it would be unethical to perform a “randomized controlled study” — the most scientifically valuable type of study — “because that would mean having people not wear masks and see if they do better.”

As it turns out, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has already reviewed a number of studies concerning the efficacy of masks in preventing transmission of flu viruses — exactly the sort of “meta-analysis” that Fauci claimed proved masks worked — and found that masks and certain other practices recommended by health authorities did not have “a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.”

The CDC’s analysis, published in the May issue of Emerging Infectious Diseases, “review[ed] the evidence base on the effectiveness of nonpharmaceutical personal protective measures and environmental hygiene measures in non-healthcare settings and discuss[ed] their potential inclusion in pandemic plans.”

The overall conclusion, according to the abstract: “Evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.” Moreover, there is only “limited evidence on the effectiveness of improved hygiene and environmental cleaning.”

The CDC identified 10 randomized controlled studies on “the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community” published between 1946 and 2018. “In pooled analysis,” they wrote, “we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks.”

  8. Trump changed his mind and now promotes the wearing of masks! Masks are very convenient for armed robbers.
