Georgia – Coldest day in 40 years

Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital city, registered a temperature of minus nine degrees Celsius on Saturday, the lowest in nearly 40 years, the country’s central meteorological agency said.

Meanwhile, temperatures in some parts of the country plummeted to minus 20 C, and the Caucasian mountainous areas in the north expected lows of 25 C below zero.

The agency warned that the cold snap (there’s that word again) would continue through Sunday.
