Greenland Ice Melt Shock – The Terrifying Truth! – Delingpole

“If you’re not scared yet, you really should be,” writes James Delingpole.

“Greenland just lost 11 billion tons of ice melted in one day because of this shocking weather event known as ‘summer’

“Do you not realise that if the Greenland ice sheet goes on melting at this extraordinary rate, then within 12,500 years HALF of it will be gone?

“Yes, you read that right. In 12,500 years – that’s about twice as far ahead into the future as we are now from the world’s earliest civilisation, Sumer, in 4500 BC – the Greenland ice sheet could be half gone, with almost incalculable consequences for those of us who are still alive.”

  1. I don’t know what this is, but it’s the biggest BS I’ve ever seen on this website so far….

    • It’s referring to a small clip that made national prime time news this week. The short video showed the raging torrents, gave the tonnage of melted ice, all with the lingering inference that this was unusual and due to AGW. This post is rightfully mocking the yellow journalism.

Now you know what this is…

  2. If that were the case by any means, the sea level around here would already be 6 inches higher right now. Obviously that is not the case LOL

    • Yeaugh and I went to the beach today and I did not drown under rising sea levels LOL

There is NOTHING going on at all.

  3. Remember just 1 1/2 months ago, Greenland glaciers were growing at a record pace:

NASA – Largest glacier in Greenland is growing for third year in a row June 18, 2019 –
The height of Jakobshavn glacier in western Greenland has increased by as much as 30 meters (98 feet) per year in some areas.
That’s about the height of a 10-story building … per year!
The thickening is occurring across an increasingly wide area.
Although the glacier has spent decades in retreat, scientists observed an unexpected advance between 2016 and 2017. In addition to growing toward the ocean, the glacier was found to be slowing and thickening.
The image above, acquired on June 6, 2019 by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8, shows a natural-color view of the glacier.
Scientists attribute the change to cool ocean waters.
“The third straight year of thickening of Greenland’s biggest glacier supports our conclusion that the ocean is the culprit,” said Josh Willis, an ocean scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The maps below show how the glacier’s height changed between March 2016 and 2017 (top); March 2017 and 2018 (middle); and March 2018 and 2019 (bottom). The elevation data come from a radar altimeter that has been flown on research airplanes each spring as part of the mission. Blue areas represent where the glacier’s height has increased, in some areas by as much as 30 m (98 feet) per year.
The change is particularly striking at the glacier’s front (solid blue area on the left) between 2016 and 2017. That’s when the glacier advanced the most, replacing open water and sea ice with towering glacial ice. The glacier has not advanced as much since then, but it continues to slow and thicken.
Willis and colleagues think the glacier is reacting to a shift in a climate pattern called the North Atlantic Oscillation, which has brought cold water northward along Greenland’s west coast. Measurements of the temperatures collected by the OMG team show that the cold water has persisted.
The team will go back to Greenland in August.

  4. Could this unusual melt be caused not by summertime warming but the unusual wild fires in Canada? Smoke and soot darkening the snow and causing a quick but short melt?

  5. Omigosh!! If this keeps up the ice sheet might actually regain all it lost during this summer season in the coming winter month!. Doh!!!

    • It’s total BS because ice can shift around and break at times – then a month later or so the ice that supposedly went missing is found again at another place in Greenland.

      It means nothing whatsoever.

  6. In my opinion geo-engineering is being used to create shock in the public’s mind and stampede the herd toward climate change legislation.

If you all noticed the record temps in France coincided with record lows just due east in Moscow. What’s going on here? Climate change or deliberate geo-engineering where the jet stream is messed with to create the illusion of runaway warming.

The way it works is by chemtrail spraying which affect atmospheric heating and that moves the jet stream into the desired location to cause an extreme event.

Last summer they did this in California according to some, they deliberately keep the pacific air from moving inland thus parching central California until the Camp Fire incinerated Paradise. A couple of days later the Pacific airmass moved in drenching the area.

  7. its an absolute ripper of a story..
except the debunking on volumes is even MORE ripper;-)
and Im just waiting for some breathless/brainless gushing idiot I know to start up on this..
as well as the siberia fires(started by illegal loggers to hide the evidence I gather) sure isnt hot enough to start a fire naturally even lightning strike would be iffy for the area covered I gather.
its been pretty cold icy and damp from what friends and this page show us as fact.

  8. Also please listen to Joe Bastardi’s “daily update” for Aug 5, beginning ata 2:21, here…

He had forecast Greenland heat this year, which there was. Now it’s going to start getting cold, with lots of snow forecast for the upcoming week(s).

Earlier in the tape he shows where the “climate ambulance chasers” are only talking about where it’s hot, but ignoring the much more substantial and unusual cold.

  9. Last night on Coast, Hugh Simpson set the record straight. According to his research, we have 5 years to a complete collapse of crops due to the Grand Solar Minimum. Sorry, Hugh, you are two years behind. George and he even brought Robert’s work and book into the discussion. This is not a joke, it’s a cycle, he says! Hmmm, where have I heard that before? Let he who hath ears hear; let he who hath eyes see. Flat earth, indeed!

  10. One more thing . If this were true that 11 billion+ tons of ice were gone suddenly in one day, you’d likely have some tsunamis hit Iceland nearby and other areas close to Greenland. Well none of that happened.

  11. I was told by people in the office that the Greenland ice sheet was melting because the weather was running 30+ degrees above normal. i went to Accuweather and got the local temperatures in western Greenland and then looked up average month to month temperatures in the same places and what the average standard deviation in temperature. Guess what ! The current temperatures were right in line with normal temperatures were for July in Greenland not 30 degrees F above normal, What they read was all a hoax and lie. I had bet a free lunch that what they said was not true. When I confronted them there was a lot of hemming and hawing and “I was just repeating what I read on the News”. I don’t expect to get my free lunch but it was fun to watch them back pedal like mad.

  12. If you believe in geo engineering, Yukon Jack, then you might as well believe that we godlike humans are capable of causing global warming. Dream on…

I wish I could live 12,500 years to see the “incalculable consequences” :-))))

  14. There is scared. Then there is NASA, Goddard, IPCC scared. And I am NASS, Goddard, IPCC scared right now.
