Grinnell Glacier has grown since 2008 – Video

I wonder how the National Park Service will respond to this.

On September 16, 2017, Roger Roots, J.D., Ph.D., led a Lysander Spooner University hike to Grinnell Glacier.

When Root compared photos that he took of the glacier to images taken at the glacier’s lowpoint in 2008, it appears that the glacier has grown since that time.

We’ve been told that glaciers in Glacier National Park are melting rapidly, and that they may soon be gone (presumably because of man-made global warming).

The Park Service has even emblazoned images on two of its trash cans suggesting that Grinnell Glacier is fading away. But when Root compared his images to those on the trash cans, it appears that the glacier may have grown over the past few years.

I wonder how the National Park Service will respond to this.

  1. I think in the next few years it will become impossible to deny that glaciers are growing and that sea ice is recovering. In 1979 Arctic ice peaked and Antarctic ice bottomed out. Now Antarctic ice is peaking and Arctic ice is bottoming out. You can see this on a graft at the sea ice page on Watts up with that. The poles are 180 degrees out of phase with each other.

  2. I remember reading what may have been a hypothesis, unless I simply cannot find the correct search term, about heat transfer between both poles at some level of the atmosphere.

Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction or remind me the memory stutters a little at this age 🙂

  3. Glacier National park has been relatively free of glaciers for over ten thousand years. The name came from the landscapes and valleys formed and shaped by the glaciers during the ice age and its retreat around 12,000 years ago.

If you went to the park a few decades ago and asked where all the ice was, the above would have been explained. Today if you ask, they, of course, now blame the lack of glaciers on global warming.

    Comment:
And it took the peak of the Holocene Maximum Solar Warm Period, 6C warmer than now to remove them, with significantly lower levels of CO2 in the Atmosphere, and the human population at around 12,000 individuals, and NO SUVs and coal burning power stations in sight.
What has changed is that Average Temperatures has declined by 6C in that 10,000 year period and CO2 has risen from lowest point in the age age of .014% to .04% with the increase in worldwide plant life as the tundra converted back to Grass lands, Savana and Forests with very few Humans, and lots of Methane and CO2 producing grass eating animals.
Frankly I would prefer the average temperatures experienced during the Roman and Medieval Solar Warm Periods, rather than the Mini Ice Age temperatures we are about to experience in this Modern Grand Solar Minimum.

  5. And there’s the mind control, show a garbage can and talk fact’s, just the facts, see the evidence you destructful humans. If it wasn’t for all the death and destruction these agwers have caused this lying spree watching them die would be hilarious .
