  1. Its interesting to read the local weather reports, but the big picture change is being buried in all the reports. I feel I am hearing wolf shouted too many times. You may be hurting your goal to inform and educate.

  2. They arrested 2000 people for being on the roads? Really? Don’t they have radios or roadblocks in Iran? Sounds like they have plenty of prison cells, tho.

    • Something may be lost in translation. The Iran media article, translated from Farsi, says, “Guilan police chief commands police to arrest two thousand passengers on roads in the province and said: “We will not travel to Guilan until the weather conditions are favorable.”” To protect the public and reduce the need for emergency services, the Iranian police may set up road-blocks and order traffic to halt or turn around. Perhaps that’s what they mean by “arrest”.

A decade ago, I saw an Iranian movie about a snowstorm that caused the police to close a road through the mountains, and a big crowd of people had to spend several days in a small hotel. It was so crowded that people were sleeping in the hallways, and the hotel staff was doing its utmost to accomodate everyone comfortably and safely. The message of the movie was that people can cooperate and be humane during an emergency.

  3. Still in the Nertherlands ones wants the government to force people eating chicken in stead of meat cause that will save the planet. Here it was relative warm but as usual the otherside of the coin isn’t mentioned by weatherforecasters. One should better run away from west-EU for the mind is out of control w.r.t. so called climate change. A downturn in temperature to the level of the sixties or lower combined with a down in economy will have a rather negative impact.
