Highway Crews Switch Back To Snowclearing In Prep For Spring Storm

Heavy snow – Up to 16 inches in some areas

23 May 2018 – Newfoundland – Highway crews are prepping for a late-season snowstorm, but the minister says snowclearing may not be as fast as what they provide in winter.

The snow will stretch from Terra Nova Park to Deer Lake with the Terra Nova region in for about 25 cm., Gander/Grand Falls-Windsor about 20 and Deer Lake under 10 cm. PAL Airlines and Aerospace meteorologist Brian Walsh says the Glovertown area could see upwards of 40 cm (16 inches).

“Mother Nature is deciding to throw some significant snow at parts of Newfoundland on the actual May 24th day of the calendar,” says Brian Walsh – PAL/VOCM Meteorologist.

“The snow may actually be heavy at times Wednesday night into Thursday morning (up to 10 cm per 3 hours for several hours) before tapering to flurries by noon Thursday, ending in the afternoon.”
