The mercury stayed below normal in most of the places including Varanasi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Allahabad, Moradabad, Lucknow and Agra.

The minimum temperature across the state was recorded at 2.3 degrees Celsius in Meerut.

The fog has affected train and air traffic with flights and trains running several hours behind schedule.

    I couldn’t help but wonder about the price elasticity of cow-dung cakes…

    ECON 101 told me that when the demand for a commodity increases the price increases commensurately.

    Are the poor freezing because the rich factory owners are burning all the cow-dung cakes? 😉

    But wait, they have a lot of wind turbines over there, right? I’m looking at an ad for a 3kW roof-mounted unit for $1700.

    Hmmm… ‘Looks like we’re gonna need a bunch of heat pumps… 😉
