  1. Canada drowned in the snow

Early last week, heavy snowfall fell in Atlantic Canada.

In Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, many roads were impassable due to ice and mud. In the worst-hit areas of Newfoundland, up to 20 cm of snow fell, but by 7 am on Wednesday morning in the Gander area there was already about 30 cm of rain.

Weather conditions surprised locals, as the total snowfall was exceeded at this time.

The first heavy snowfall in the region forced authorities to close some schools and urged drivers to avoid unnecessary travel.
