Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Bitterly cold wind chills will return this evening and overnight, which will be the start of a brutal three-day stretch of frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills. Wind Chill Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories have been issued across the Northland through the upcoming weekend.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…(Sat through Thurs)…
The frigid cold across northeast MN and northwest WI will continue Saturday through the middle of next week. Temperatures will primarily be subzero through Tuesday morning with periods of dangerous wind chills.
The coldest periods look to be Saturday night into Sunday morning with widespread wind chills of 25 to 50 below zero, with the coldest wind chills across northern MN.
New Year`s Eve will be one of the coldest on record with overnight wind chills of 30 to 40 below zero into the morning of New Years Day.
The dangerously cold wind chills will cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Expect wind chills to range from 25 below zero to 45 below zero this weekend.
Frostbite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
A Winter Weather Advisory for lake effect snow remains in effect for Iron county in northwest Wisconsin.

“In International Falls we have been under a wind chill warning since pretty much Christmas Eve,” says Kingbum. “It’s not a pleasant thing to be told bundle up or get frostbite.”
