Peru – 82 children die from intense cold

“Puno: 82 niños fallecen por el intenso frío,” reads the headline.

“Withering cold.”

With the temperature dropping to 20 ° below zero, a total of 82 children under five have died from pneumonia in different regions of Peru, said the latest Epidemiological Bulletin of the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The frigid weather has generated 42,200 cases of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in children, according to the Regional Health Authority (Diresa) of Ancash.
