Powerful eruptions at Ecuador volcano

“Powerful roars and explosions sounding like cannon blasts” coming from Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano have been rattling windows and shaking the ground in nearby towns, said experts with the Geophysical Institute (IG) on Sunday.

Columns “with a moderate to high load of ash” rose 2.5 miles (4 km) above the crater and spread to a dozen nearby villages.
