“Turney has a carbon something or other company trying to get rich off the AGW hysteria – Carbonscape.com,” says reader Fred From Canuckistan.
I hadn’t heard about this allegation, so I asked Fred if he had any links to back it up.
A couple of hours later, a different reader sent two links – one for Turney’s own web page, the other for his linkedin profile.
Now, I don’t know if Turney is “trying to get rich of AGW hysteria” or not. You’ll have to decide that for yourself. But he unabashedly admits that he helped set up Carbonscape.
Here are some direct quotes from Turney’s web page:
By a series of accidental turns and a healthy dose of serendipity I have ended up exploring the world.
I am an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow and Professor of Climate Change at the University of University of New South Wales where my team and I are focussing our efforts on using the past to better understand the changes we are seeing today. To do something positive about climate change, I helped set up a carbon refining company called Carbonscape which has developed technology to fix carbon from the atmosphere and make a host of green bi-products, helping reduce greenhouse gas levels.
And here, in his linkedin profile, Turney mentions Carbonscape twice.
- Director at Carbonscape Holdings
- Laureate Fellow and Professor of Climate Change at University of New South Wales
- Director at Carbonscape
- Professor of Physical Geography at University of Exeter
- Royal Holloway, U. of London University of East Anglia
