Record low temps and a year’s worth of snow in one shot

 

According to the National Weather Service, Ocean View, Delaware, received 13.5 inches of snow on Jan. 7.

Lance Franck, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said average snowfall for Ocean View, at least from 1981 to 2010, was a foot (30 cm) annually.

As to the cold, on the morning of Jan. 9, the temperature dropped to 2°F (-16.7°C) at the Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, tying the old record set in 1970. Georgetown is about 31 miles inland from Ocean View.
