Snow in Idaho on Memorial Day weekend

This year camping over Memorial Day weekend in Southern Idaho was a little different than it has been in past.

“Reservoir beaches are under water. New creeks have formed where creeks previously didn’t exist, and you may have woken up to snow. ”

The pictures (see link) were taken on May 27th near Alturas Lake, which is located 30 miles northwest of Ketchum.

  1. ‘The first weekend in Moscow will be cold’, with a temperature below the norm of 4-7°C. Around of 1.5 km, the air temperature is almost winter, up to -5 ..- 6°C.
The coldest night will be on Saturday, June 3, in Moscow thermometers will show 4..6°C, in the region the air will cool down to 1 degree. And in the daytime the temperature is almost April: 12..14 degrees. It is below the norm by 6-7 degrees.
Such cold weather in the beginning of summer happens on average 1 time in 5-6 years. The longest period of cold weather was in 2003, it lasted from 2 to 4 June. The average daily air temperature on June 3, 2003 was only 4.8°C!
