Snowiest winter in Moscow in 20 years

From the end of October to January 26 the Russian Capital received 217 cm (almost 8 ft) of snow.

This  is the most snow to have fallen by January 26 in the last 20 years.

In the winter of 2012-2013, the accumulated amount of fresh snow had reached only 173cm by this date.

And it is cold. Today in the Capital the thermometer registers -16.8 to -22°C, and down to -26°C (-14.8F) in surrounding areas.
