Switzerland – Abnormal snow and cold could damage trees

The current massive cold collapse is not normal. warns Klaus Marquard of Meteonews. “There will be frost damage.”

18 April 2017 – Snow? Really? Now?

Today temperatures have fallen sharply. There are snowflakes down to the lowlands and minus temperatures.

On Wednesday it gets even colder, with snow down to the lowlands again.

Meteonews expects a slight frost on Thursday morning and for it to remain cool on the weekend.

If the freezing temperatures continue, it will be a problem for the flowering trees. After unusually mild temperatures in March and April the flowering of the plants is already advanced.
