Two NYU professors staged a mock presidential debate with the genders reversed. An actress played Trump while a male actor played Hillary.
The goal was to prove that people would not have accepted Trump’s aggressive behavior had it come from a woman, and that Hillary’s debate style would have been much more likable if she had she been a man.
The actors strove to copy the candidate’s debate performances exactly, including their gestures, words, even their tone.
Viewers of the mock debates were “unsettled” to find that Trump became more likable as a woman and Hillary became even less likable as a man.
“When [the female version of Trump] was attacking, I had so much respect for her and her level of confidence,” wrote one viewer.
