United States – Record-high snow cover across the Lower 48

Snow now covers nearly one half – one half! – of the continental United States. That’s the most snow cover on December 2 since records began.

“Snow covered the ground on nearly half of the real estate in the Lower 48 — 46.2 percent of land area — on Monday morning,’ writes Jason Samenow of the Capital Weather Gang ” (This is) the largest area on Dec. 2 since snow cover records from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration began in 2003. Normally, a little more than a quarter of the nation has snow on the ground at this time of year.”

  1. Pitiful misguided souls (or UN Agenda21 nazis) at UN Climate Change Conference meeting in Brazil, whoops Chile, whoops Spain are wanting the world to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Centigrade. Those of us in touch with reality and familiar with Solar Cycle 25 (our Sun has gone dormant right on schedule) we say NO PROBLEM. http://www.optical-ip-networks.com for more hard fact-based info.

    • Lol at the 1 million mostly south asian immigrants flooding into Canada every year. Mostly young students brainwashed into thinking the world is warming, and probably expecting Canada to have warmed to a pleasant climate by now..what a shock they get when they come here.

  2. Very extensive snow cover in NA, at the same time as Oz ski resorts received enough snow to cover the ground.
So impressive snow in both hemispheres.
And the Cosmic theory is that with declining solar activity cloud cover increases.
    More cooling, more precipitation.

  3. With the Polar vortex going over North America yet again all that does for us here in the British Isles is give us wild, windy and wet weather for another Winter. it is 2010 since we got a really decent Snowfall.

  4. Alaska getting smothered is snow, 12 ft in the next ten days on the mountains above Anchorage. The storm is leftovers from Typhoon Kammuri which just went through the Phillipines killing 17.

It spawned after a solar windstorm of 600kps from this positive polarity coronal hole which will be back around soon, like clockwork:

  5. Someone should suggest a new industry for Russia: Mega-jails in Siberia to hold the world’s criminals on a commission-basis, with hard labor, balls-on-chains, etc.

  6. I’m not feeling their numbers. The image shows the north Wets as being included. I live her in the North West and there is very little snow except on mountains. You could cut the North West image by 2/3rds and be more accurate. Being that I am a heavy promoter of info concerning the coming crop losses and massive waves of cold I appreciate accuracy. Just not seeing the numbers should include so much of the North Wes
