Thousands of homes without electricity, roads buried.
20 Apr 2017 – The Government Security Center announced on Thursday morning that some 34,000 customers were without power. Repairs in some regions may take until Friday.
The worst situation was in Silesian province, which received tens of centimeters of wet snow. Trees broke under under the weight, breaking many power lines and hindering traffic on the roads, even on the railways.
The most snow fell in the northern part of the region – in the vicinity of Czestochowa and Klobuck.
In Czestochowa, fallen trees crushed several cars.
In turn, the cars on the road just got bogged down in the snow. According to the governor crisis management center, some roads and highways in Silesia were passable on Wednesday morning, but at night traffic was difficult or even blocked due to fallen trees or trucks.
The situation on the roads is “awful.”
Friday in Poland can be forecast in two words: it is “freezing” and “white.”
