Winter storm warnings or advisories for 26 states

Parts of the Cascades could get three feet (1 meter) of snow.

Forecasts are calling for snow in parts of all of these areas: California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C.

This map may change by the time you look at it, but here’s what it looked like at 2:30 pm Pacific time on 17 Feb 2018.

  1. All I have seen outside is snow since Halloween….beginning to get a little old but according to AccuWeather at least 6 more weeks of it being on the ground here….

  2. No, that metric system is pretty wacky. Instead of a nice round 3 feet – Europeans would say 0.923 meters. Don’t understand how that is simpler 😛

  3. Also Weatherbell’s Joseph D’Aleo posted we should be on guard, despite this week’s mild temperatures in the eastern USA, because the NAO is going to plunge and the pattern will flip back to the bitter cold seen in late December and early January.

That earlier arctic outbreak plunged all the way across the Gulf of Mexico to Central America. They may not have gotten a frost, but cool temperatures and cold (for them) rains apparently stunted the banana crop, and we are starting to see the shortages in grocery stores in New England.
